The northwest of Quito is a paradise of biodiversity. The area from Puerto Quito to Mindo is one of the richest in the planet allowing a huge concentration of birds, including hummingbirds (known as the bird of Quito), the cock of the rock, and many butterflies, insects, amphibians and mammals.
Mindo's climate is pleasant, despite the occasional rain. There are different ecological walking trails in the vicinity, where you can find beautiful waterfalls, mountains, fishing sites, and other attractions. With good luck you will see some mammals such as porcupines, spectacled bears and pumas. There is also a large quantity of medicinal plants, as well as fabulous orchids. Trees of rubber and cinnamon are no exception.
We found a select range of hotels, hostels and inns that offer tourists a comfortable stay with visits to the magical and enchanting forest. |
